3-star historical city-center hotel with three connected bars and live entertainment

Entertainment & Nightlife

The Mercantile Hotel has three connected bars that accommodate up to 1100 guests with live entertainment. Daily coverage of major sporting events takes place in a dedicated sports environment. Live sport events, a nightclub with a DJ, and organized pub crawls are available to guests.

Rooms & Architecture

Past and present blend at this beautifully refurbished Georgian building, a protected 18th-century structure from Dublin's Wide Streets Commission. The hotel offers 105 newly appointed rooms with state of the art technology that preserve the building's timeless charm. Interactive 'living' picture frames disguised as screens are installed in the rooms.

Dining & Drinks

The on-site bar and grill specializes in traditional Irish dishes, including a Beef and Guinness Pithivier with marrow gravy. A free breakfast is served on weekdays, and affordable dining options feature traditional Irish dishes. Personalized craft beer tasting experiences are offered to hotel guests.

Location

The hotel is centrally located on Dame Street, meters from Dublin's commercial, shopping, and entertainment areas. Guests are within walking distance of Trinity College, Dublin Castle, and the Guinness Storehouse. The hotel sits on the edge of the Temple Bar district with cobbled streets and a new river boardwalk.

Services & Safety

Safety features include smoke detectors, security systems, CCTV in common areas, and 24-hour security. The hotel offers a 24-hour front desk, express check-in/check-out, and a tour desk for guests. A fax/photocopying service is available for business travelers needing a central location.

Highlights

Entertainment: Three connected bars for 1100 guests with live music and sports

Rooms: 105 rooms with interactive 'living' picture frames

Dining: Traditional Irish dishes and craft beer tastings

Location: Protected 18th-century building, steps from Temple Bar

Services: Free weekday breakfast and 24-hour front desk

Safety: CCTV coverage and 24-hour security system

“The Mercantile wins on location, placing you squarely in Dublin's lively heart, though some rooms sacrifice space for that prime real estate. I appreciate the hotel's blend of Georgian architecture and modern touches, and the promise of live music spilling from the interconnected bars certainly adds to the appeal. It's a solid base for exploring the city, especially if you value being steps from the action.”

the location proved ideal as it enabled convenient access to all areas i wanted to visit. the bathroom was well-sized and very clean which i found particularly beneficial. i also noted ample counter space for toiletries with good lighting for makeup application which assisted greatly with my routine.
i found that the room lacked a chair or table which slightly detracted from my comfort. space felt limited without dedicated seating. this absence.
